A parent or carer needs to agree

Please hand this to your parent or carer.

Your child would like to take part in the Touchmark research study. We are building a writing desk that can show a piece of writing was written by a person, not by AI. To make it work well, we need to see how real people write.

• What we record while they write: every key pressed and exactly when, including deletions; when they click away from the desk and for how long; the size of the browser window and where they move around in their writing; and what they write. We do not record their screen, camera, microphone, location or anything else on their device.
• Before each piece, they say honestly what it is: their own writing, copied, written with AI, or an attempt to fool the checker. None of these ever counts against them.
• Who sees it: the research team. Pangram, a company in the USA, checks the text for AI writing and uses it for that check only. Nothing is shared with their school or teachers, and nothing is used for marks, coursework or discipline.
• Safeguarding: if their writing makes us think they or someone else may not be safe, we will tell you, or, if that would not be safe, the right people to help keep them safe.
• How long we keep it: up to 12 months. Your child can choose Stop taking part at any time, which deletes their account, writing and typing records. We keep anonymous typing numbers and scores, with no writing and nothing that links them to your child.
• Certificates from the study are stamped TEST and do not count for anything official.

New project

A project holds parts written over time, such as chapters. Each part is certified on its own, in any order, while you keep writing the rest.

Delete your account?

This deletes your account, your writing, its keystroke records and every certificate. Certificates you have shared will stop verifying. It cannot be undone.

Anonymous typing measurements and scores from your finished pieces are kept for research, with no text and nothing that links them to you.
